Cat Gleason is currently an Assistant Teaching Professor, and the director of the Master’s program at University of Missouri’s Department of Theatre. She holds an MFA in directing theatre from Southern Illinois University and a PhD in theatre research from the University of Wisconsin. Her research interests include Chicago theatre history, contemporary American drama, experimental theatre practice, as well as gender and performance studies. Her artistic practice focuses on movement for the theatre, dramaturgy, and new play direction. She has trained in physical and devised theatre with Chicago companies Goat Island and Plasticene; and most recently she trained in corporeal mime at École de Mime de Montréal. Gleason served as the Artistic Director at Summerset Theatre on the Campus of University of Wisconsin-Baraboo/Sauk County where she directed Greater Tuna and You Can’t Take It with You. Gleason’s most recent directing credits have included a new adaptation of Medea, which she co-wrote for MU’s Theatre Department, TempOdyssey for the independent Actors Theatre, and Charlotte’s Web for the McLeod Summer Playhouse in Carbondale, Illinois.
