A Minneapolis native, David completed his Master of Fine Arts in Theatre Directing at the University of Iowa, where he regularly developed and directed premieres of new plays and devised work with writers from the nationally-recognized Iowa Playwrights’ Workshop. He has also trained with Anne Bogart and the SITI Company, the Wesley Balk Opera/Music-Theater Institute, and Theatre de la Jeune Lune. David holds a Bachelor of Arts cum laude from Lawrence University, where he studied theatre, literature, and studio art. When he’s not directing and devising his own productions around the Twin Cities, David directs and teaches within Metropolitan State University’s Theater Department, Stages Theatre Company’s Performance Studio, and the theatre program at White Bear Lake Area High School. Additionally, David often creates puppets and masks for many of his theatre productions. His core artistic values are: *Pursuing interdisciplinary artistic collaborations *Promoting non-hierarchical integration of design, physical performance, text, and music *Experimenting during the process of creation, juxtaposing multiple genres and performance styles
