James Stover is a graduate of VCU's MFA Theatre Pedagogy Program and is currently an Assistant Professor at VCU teaching "Movement for the Actor" and "Musical Theatre Performance". A proud member of Actor's Equity, he recently played Luther Billis in South Pacific at Virginia Repertory Theatre. He's previously performed with theatres across the country including Off-Broadway's Keen Company, NYC's Flea Theatre, the Tony Award-winning Utah Shakespeare Festival (two seasons), The Walnut Street Theatre, Virginia Musical Theatre, McCarter Theatre, Columbus Children's Theatre, New England Shakespeare Festival and more. He is currently working towards his teaching certification in the Michael Chekhov Technique with the Great Lakes Michael Chekhov Consortium. His directing credits include Yank! (Richmond Triangle Players), The Amish Project (Philadelphia's Simpatico Theatre), Godspell (OH's Straw Hat Theatre), Marcus is Walking (TN's Roxy Regional Theatre) and the award-winning Indigenous Peoples (NYC's Theatre Row/Wonderland Festival). He has previously taught with Columbus Children's Theatre, the Ashtabula Arts Center, the Utah Shakespeare Festival's Junior Actor Camp and Philadelphia Young Playwrights (two-time Magner Award finalist). He holds a BFA in Musical Theatre from Otterbein University.
