Assistant Professor
Born in Independence, Missouri, Jason received a B.F.A. in Acting and a B.A. in English at the University of Central Missouri before receiving an M.F.A. in Actor-Created Physical Theatre from the London International School of Performing Arts in cooperation with Naropa University. He co-founded Three Sticks Theatre in Minneapolis, and created, directed, produced and performed in numerous original works.
Jason currently serves as Producing Director of Split Knuckle Theatre, managing logistics around university residencies and regional tours. He also works in the rehearsal room as an actor, director, and theatre-maker, having worked on Split Knuckle's Endurance, The Curious Case of Phineas Gage, and The Band of the Black Hand. He is proud to produce and curate Split Knuckle's annual showcase for the Association of Performing Arts Professional in New York City.
He has worked with Theatre de la Jeune Lune, Children's Theatre Company, Theater Latte Da, Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey, Shakespeare & Company, Kansas City Repertory Theatre, and Connecticut Repertory Theatre. He is a member of the Actors Equity Association, an associate member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society, and a member of the American Society of Fight Directors.
As an educator, Jason has taught at numerous universities and colleges, including Drake University, the University of Central Missouri, the University of Minnesota/ Guthrie Theatre B.F.A. program, the University of Connecticut/ Connecticut Repertory Theatre B.F.A. Actor Training program, the University of Missouri- Kansas City/ Kansas City Repertory Theatre M.F.A. Actor Training program, and the University of Kansas. Currently, he is an Assistant Professor of Movement & Physical Theatre at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, where he teaches movement, mask, devising, and wellness. He is a member of the National Alliance of Acting Teachers and the Association of Theatre Movement Educators.
Jason is also a proud member of Yoga Alliance and holds a 500 hour certification through ISHTA Yoga Center, where he studied with Alan Finger, Mona Anand, Peter Ferko, and Cassandra Ferland.
