BFA, NYU - Experimental Theatre Wing MFA in Directing, UMASS/Amherst Tanya directs and choreographs theatre, opera and dance. Opera credits include Tosca Jumps!, a multimedia adaptation of Puccini’s opera (EdgeFest/LATC); directed and choreographed Carmen (Pacific Repertory Opera), The Coronation of Poppea (CSULA) and The Medium (CSULA); choreographed The Man from Atlantis, The Clever One and Moscow, Cherry Town (Long Beach Opera). Assistant Director at Los Angeles Opera on Madama Butterfly, The Barber of Seville, Carmen, The Broken Jug, The Dwarf and The Merry Widow. She has assisted director Joan Font on the premiere of The Barber of Seville at Houston Grand Opera, directed the remount at the Houston Miller Outdoor Theatre and assisted on the remount at l’Opera National de Bordeaux. She then assisted Font on the remount of L’Italiana in Algers at Houston Grand Opera and La Cenerentola at Los Angeles Opera. Tanya is also the founder and Artistic Director of the site-specific performance group, Opera del Espacio: www.operadelespacio.org. In addition to presenting original performance events on the LA metro, at the Downtown ArtWalk, Highways Performance Space and more, the company has also presented two new full-evening works, Caridad Svich's THE WAY OF WATER and an original company devised piece that examines our relationship to architecture, SPACE: THE FINAL FRONTIER. These works have been presented at Bootleg Theatre, the Hollywood Fringe, Cal Poly Pomona, Cal State L.A. and South Coast Rep.
