Dr. Sears A. Eldredge is Emeritus Professor of Theatre and Dance at Macalester College in Saint Paul, Minnesota. His most recent book, Captive Audience/Captive Performers: Music & Theatre as Strategies for Survival on the Thailand-Burma Railway 1942-1945, was published online in April 2014 by Macalester College. Return to Kanburi, a modern Noh play about the reconciliation between British POW Eric Lomax and Nagase Takashi, the Japanese interpreter present during his interrogation and torture, was performed in 1999. In 1996, Northwestern University Press published the work for which he is best known: Mask Improvisation for Actor Training and Performance: the Compelling Image.
