Join CLMA Nicole Perry for an introduction to the Laban/Bartenieff Movement System by spending 1 week in each aspect of it: Body, Effort, Shape, and Space. Great for directors or choreographers desiring more embodied language for their work or for actors or dancers seeking physical ways to develop characters. Join for 1 week or all 4!
Monday, October 19- The Educator's Nervous System Workshop with Somatic Therapist Fallon Baltzell. Teaching asks us to be present for others every day, but how can we care for the system that makes presence possible Through discussion, embodied practices, and opportunities for self-reflection, we will explore how the nervous system shapes our experiences as educators and influences the ways we teach, connect, and respond to everyday challenges. Created for dance and theatre teachers.
Monday, October 26- Enjoying a Carefree and Dynamic Voice Workshop with Lessac Certified Trainer Elizabeth Parks. In this 90-minute workshop, participants will gain tools for vocal ease, warmth, and musicality through Lessac Kinesensics (LK). LK is a somatic and consent-based approach to voice, movement, and communication. It honors the personal uniqueness of each participant while empowering them with the tools for dynamic speech that feels good both inside and out. Through vocal and physical play, participants will learn the basics of the Lessac Vocal NRGs (energies). Applicable for anyone teaching, creating, or performing work that requires vocalization!
Monday, November 9- No, I'm sorry, your work does not speak for itself: Why You Need an Artist Statement & How to Write One Workshop with playwright and arts administrator Andie Arthur. The artist statement can be one of the most feared and despised part of an application. However, they are actually necessary for grant panelists, curators, and others to figure out your relationship to your work and why it deserves funding or to be in their festival, etc
Saturday, November 14- Join certified Yoga Teacher and Intimacy Professional Nicole Perry for the Embodied Boundary Work Weekend Workshop. Just in time for the end of the semester productions and grading, holiday obligations, and end of the year rush! This 2-hour Weekend Workshop uses Yin Yoga to explore boundaries, agency, and capacity first as theory and then as sensations in the body, with time for integration, reflection, and discussion.
Monday, December 14- Analyze a Script Like a Lead Storyteller Workshop. Latiné Theater Lab founder and immersive theatre practitioner Alex Gonzalez traces the journey of a performance from first read to first rehearsal, offering practical tools for shaping a clear and communicable vision. While centered on directing, this work is also valuable for designers, actors, choreographers and anyone engaged in storytelling.
