Ready, Set, Go. Teaching, Training, and Performing the Extraordinary.

As a membership, how is ATME teaching, training, and performing the extraordinary? This year’s pre-conference looks at how we are unusual or remarkable in our teaching, training, and performance.

Unusual or remarkable theatre may be immersive, or innovative, or inspired by the circus. It might be teaching presence in a digital world, challenging the limits of institutional resources, building community, or simply incredible teaching.

This year, Boston University has graciously agreed to host us for a day of panels, workshops, and discussions. In addition to the usual pre-conference opportunities for formal presentations, we are also introducing an ATME Gallery Walk, specifically designed for members to showcase images, videos, or other physical media from their work. Selected Gallery Walk entries will be on display for attendees to draw inspiration and allow more opportunities for members to become further acquainted with our extraordinary work.

On the second day of our pre-conference, we will be joining the Acting, Directing, Design and Technology focus groups, and The Interactive Theatre Committee, to work with Third Rail Projects Co-Artistic Director, Jennine Willett. Jeannine Willett is co-creator of the Brooklyn immersive theater hits Then She Fell (2012), currently running in its fourth year, and The Grand Paradise (2016,) as well as the popular touring work, Roadside Attraction, a traveling time-capsule created for a vintage 70s era pop-up camper.  Read more about Jeannine at the Third Rail website.

While official pre-con scheduling will begin the morning of July 31st, there will be an informal and optional get together for everyone in town on the evening of the 30th.
